내용 Guidance on completion of the Spring 2022 Ethics and Safety course

To prevent research misconduct and safety accidents during the entire academic period, and to raise students’ethics and safety awareness, the university has required students to complete the Ethics and Safety courses. Undergraduate and graduate students should take "Ethics and Safety" as below in order to graduate.

This course does not require you to go through official registration but to visit its website (https://eethics.kaist.ac.kr) logging in with your portal ID, then take lectures and exams.


1. Courses information
- Sub-courses: Research ethics, Lab safety, Human Rights & Gender Equality, Cyber ethics.
※ Cyber Ethics applicable to students enrolled in 2018 and thereafter
※ Research Technology Security applicable to students enrolled in 2022 and thereafter
※ In the case of graduate students, required sub-courses are different from each department.
Please refer to "Course Overview: Required Courses by Department" on the website.

2. Completion requirements
1) Students admitted before 2017
(1) Required courses: Lab Safety, Research Ethics, Human Rights & Gender Equality
(2) Period for course taking
- (Principle) Regular semesters (spring , fall)
- (Those who fail to complete) Those who are graduating in the corresponding semester are
allowed to take the courses after requesting an additional completion.
(3) Time limit for completion: Semester desired for graduation 40 days before the degree award date
(4) Completion results: To be marked as“1AU”during grading period

2) Students admitted in 2018, 2019
(1) Required courses: Lab Safety, Research Ethics, Human Rights & Gender Equality, Cyber Ethics
(2) Period for course taking: Always (within the prescribe period)
(3) Time limit for completion
- (Principle) Completion within the second semester based on the current semester
- (Recommended) Completion within the first semester after enrollment
(4) Completion results: Marked as “having satisfied the requirements for graduation”

3) Students admitted in 2020
(1) Required courses: Lab Safety, Research Ethics, Human Rights & Gender Equality, Cyber Ethics
(2) Period for course taking: Always (within the prescribe period)
(3) Time limit for completion
- (Principle) Before the mid-term exam period of the first semester after enrollment
- (Recommended) Before the beginning of classes of the first semester after enrollment
(4) Completion results: Marked as “having satisfied the requirements for graduation”

4) Students admitted in 2021
(1) Required courses: Lab Safety, Research Ethics, Human Rights & Gender Equality, Cyber Ethics
(2) Period for course taking: Always (within the prescribe period)
(3) Time limit for completion
- (Principle) Before the beginning of classes of the first semester of freshman year
- (Recommended) Before the start of the course registration period of the first semester of freshman year
(4) Completion results: Marked as “having satisfied the requirements for graduation”

5) Students admitted in 2022 and thereafter
(1) Required courses: Lab Safety, Research Ethics, Human Rights & Gender Equality, Cyber Ethics, Research Technology Security
(2) Period for course taking: Always (within the prescribe period)
(3) Time limit for completion
- (Principle) Before the beginning of classes of the first semester of freshman year
- (Recommended) Before the start of the course registration period of the first semester of freshman year
(4) Completion results: Marked as “having satisfied the requirements for graduation”

3. Period for course taking
1) Students admitted before 2017: February 28(Mon.), 2022 ~ June 17(Fri.), 2021
2) Students admitted in 2018, 2019: Completion within the second semester based on the current semester
3) Students admitted in 2020: Before the mid-term exam period of the first semester after enrollment
4) Students admitted in 2021 and thereafter: Before the beginning of classes of the first semester of freshman year
*we are planning to provide additional period.(Students admitted in 2022)

4. Note
1) To complete Ethics and Safety, you must pass exams getting more than 80 points for all sub-courses while in school.
2) The students who is going to graduate in August 2022, must take the 'Ethics & Safety' course.
3) If you take the exam, you can see whether you have passed or not at 'My page' on the right corner of the website. The grades will be marked automatically on their report cards after the end of the semester. (Students admitted after 2018: To be marked as “meeting graduation requirements” in graduation assessment system.)
4) If you have already completed Ethics and Safety when in the Master's course, it is unnecessary for you to retake it.
